Is ABS recyclable?

Like most thermoplastics, ABS is recyclable. ABS – which stands for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene – is a thermoplastic which means it is made out of plasticised polymers that enable the material to melt into a liquid form when heated, and then turn into a solid again once cooled. With this in mind, ABS can be used over and over again, as it can just be melted into its liquid state, before being made into the next product. Even more so, ABS sheet still retains its extensive list of properties throughout its moulding and fabrication processes – so you’ll be getting a strong, durable and resistant product no matter how many times it’s been recycled.

What are the properties of ABS?

ABS plastic sheet material has a wide range of properties that make it ideal for use in lots of different industries and applications. It is a very strong thermoplastic that boasts a great impact resistance, and this toughness is retained throughout its manufacturing processes. However, whilst having impressive strength, ABS also weighs very little, and being lightweight means it can be transported easily in its convenient sheet form. The thermoplastic also has an excellent resistance to chemicals and weather, which is why it is commonly used for outdoor applications. In addition to this, ABS can withstand very low temperatures that do not impact its resistance, so if you’re looking for a material that can be used in extremely cold temperatures, ABS should definitely be considered.
