UV stabiliser is an additive that is used during the manufacturing process to ensure that products don’t fade with prolonged exposure to sunlight. By UV stabilising plastic, the product absorbs light energy from the UV rays using chemicals similar to those in sunscreen products that protect the skin from UV attack.
Using UV stabilisers will help prolong the longevity of a product by protecting it from ultraviolet (UV) rays that could cause the product to disintegrate, become damaged, discolour or crack.
In plastics, the UV stabiliser usually acts by absorbing the UV radiation and dissipating the energy as low-level heat. They are typically used in cosmetics and films as well as products being used outdoors including children’s toys and playground equipment.
Here at Eagle Plastics, we can supply UV stabilised products with a minimum order quantity applicable for some lines.
