What is ABS plastic sheet?

ABS sheet is an example of a thermoplastic. Thermoplastics can become mouldable at specific temperatures and turn solid when they cool down. The intermolecular forces in the thermoplastics are what cause the material to become pliable when heated; the forces can then be reformed upon cooling.

Our Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS Sheet) demonstrates the same ease of fabrication and formability as HIPS, but provides much higher impact strength, rigidity, durability and chemical resistance. In some cases, thermoplastic sheets have replaced traditional metal materials due to its increased durability, and a stronger weather resistance. It also demonstrates a high rigidity and impact strength alongside its excellent abrasion resistance making it an extremely versatile material with many uses.

Applications

Our ABS is used in a wide variety of applications, such as:

  • Low volume automotive mouldings
  • Enclosures
  • Disability aides
  • Transit trays

It is also commonly used in automotive hardware and in toy manufacturing, and is a favourite for children’s musical instrument such as clarinets and recorders.

At Eagle Plastics Limited, our ABS stock range covers both smooth and embossed sheets in selected colours, and offers virgin, recycled and flame retardant grades. The colours we stock include: Grey Pinseal, Red Pinseal, White Smooth, Black Pinseal and Carbon Fibre. Alongside the colour options, our products are also available in a wide range of sheet sizes and thicknesses.

We provide a bespoke cutting service, utilising our state of the art equipment. Using our computerised cutting system enables us to design your chosen material quickly and accurately, maximising yield and giving you the best possible value for money.
